Hi everyone,

Olly and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for what we thought was an extremely positive start to the Deep Dive process this week.

We felt very welcome and really appreciated your openness and willingness to engage in the process.  I believe we have gathered some really inputs and are developing a good understanding of the challenges that you face.

As I said, it is your thoughts, views and ideas (and those of your Recruiting Managers) that will shape the recommendations, so please continue to be involved as much as you can.

Next Steps

a)      Spreadsheet – Please fill out the spreadsheet that Karen sent around (also attached just in case).  I explained this to many of you when we met and all you need to do is go along the columns until you find your name in row 6.  Then fill in each box with a percentage of how much time, roughly, you spend on each of the stated tasks in a typical week.  Remember that 1hour equates to approx 3% and 1 hour per day therefore equates to 15% of your time.  If you have any questions, then please ask a colleague, Karen or myself.  As part of the London wide Streamlining Programme we are gathering the same information from all other London Trusts, so it will provide us with some very interesting benchmarks and will help to highlight to Recruiting Managers just how much work you have on.  These need to be completed by noonon Tuesday so that we can convert them into some graphs in readiness for our Workgroup on Wednesday.

b)      Workshop 1 – Recruitment Team Workshop – this will take place this coming Wednesday at your offices at Charing Cross Hospital.  You will all be sent an invitation to attend and Karen and Hilary will determine what (if any) phone cover is needed.  During this session, I will feedback to you my early thoughts from last weeks discussions and then we will have an interactive session to ensure that everything that needs to be done is captured into a plan. Please come ready with thoughts about what you as a team do well and what improvements you would like to make.

We are very keen to make sure that we capture ALL your inputs and that we find a way of incorporating as many ideas as possible into the final recommendations. If you also wish to raise anything but don’t want to wait until the workgroup on Wednesday then please do not hesitate to contact me by email.

Olly and I really look forward to seeing your spreadsheets by noon on Tuesday and seeing you in person for the workshop on Wednesday

Keep up the great work see you later in the week.

Kind regards,

Daniel Elkins
